AWHS chorus to record second album

The AWHS chorus has been hard at work in rehearsal preparing to record its second album entitled, “A Few of Our Favorite Songs,” on April, 10. The album will feature performances ranging from gospel, jazz, musical theater and pop.

Director Linda DeRosa-Coakley said the chorus is ecstatic about its new album.

“The album will feature two of our favorite gospel songs, ‘Turn Me Round’ and ‘In that Great Gettin’ Up Mornin,’ said DeRosa-Coakley. “The students bring quite a lot of enthusiasm to each piece.”

Junior soloist Claudelle Osias is featured on ‘In That Great Gettin’ Up Mornin.’ Her soulful and inspirational voice is a standout.

The ensemble moves through different genres seamlessly, singing the jazz standard “Fly Me To The Moon" then transitions to a driving rendition of Billy Joel’s “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me.”

“We have been rehearsing since February to prepare for this recording session.  All of that work will be well worth it when everyone hears the end result,” said DeRosa-Coakley. I could not be prouder of our student musicians.”

“A Few of Our Favorite Songs” will sell exclusively on You can pre-order online now. The songs will be available the third week of April.
