Fifth Straight Garden Party
Girls Basketball vs Amesbury
March 13, 2017, 2:15 PM

Five Alive: Our Girls Basketball team hoists their fifith straight South Sectional Championship after defeating Fontbonne Saturday.
The Annual Tradition
For the fifth consecutive year, our Girls Basketball team has advanced to the Division 3 Eastern Massachusetts Championship defeating Fontbonne this afternoon, 62-56. The South Sectional Champions will play Amesbury Monday at 2:15 at the Boston Garden.

We want as many students as possible to attend the game and cheer our Bishops!

Here are all of the details.

Special 1:00 PM Early Dismissal

Students will be dismissed at 1:00 PM on Monday to give them ample time to get to the game if they choose to go (transportation details below). Given our concern over the weather forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday, we will run a schedule in which all seven periods meet. It will still be based on a Day 6 schedule though.

Lunch will be served.
There will be after school supervision until the normal time.

Seniors with privilege must be in Homeroom at 8:25 AM.

School Spirit Dress Down Day

Monday will be a special "school spirit" dress down day. The rules for the day are simple: wear Archbishop Williams apparel. In order to dress down, students must wear at least an AWHS branded shirt so there is no mistake who we support when we go to the Garden. (If a student doesn't have a shirt, he or she can dress down with their uniform polo).

There is no cost for the day, and of course, all other dress down day rules apply.

Getting to the Garden: Fan Bus

Students may elect to take the T or ride the AWHS Fan Bus to the Boston Garden. We strongly discourage students from driving as Boston traffic is tricky and parking is expensive.

To take the fan bus, students must come to the Main Office with $5 and a permission slip, which can be downloaded here. Nobody will be able to get on the bus without a permission slip, so it is imperative that students have it with them.

The bus will leave school at 1:15 PM and return as soon as possible after the game, traffic permitting. All students who ride the fan bus to the game must ride the bus back afterwards, no exceptions.

Students who ride the fan bus are responsible for purchasing their own ticket to the game.

Student Conduct Expectations

Students who choose to take the T should remember that they remain representatives of AWHS throughout the trip. All reports of misconduct on the T or in the Garden will be subject to appropriate school discipline.

We are very proud of the strong reputation our students have for their behavior both at games and in transit and we simply will not tolerate any behavior that jeopardizes that reputation.

Getting Into the Garden

All students are responsible for purchasing their own tickets. Tickets are $14.00 if purchased in advance through Ticketmaster (with all the fees) and $15 at the Gate. There are no student discounts (the MIAA sets the pricing for playoffs). Tickets may be purchased in advance through Ticketmaster here: http://tinyurl.com/AWHSGarden. Again, please note, a seat on the fan bus does not include a ticket the game.

Reminder on Attendance Rules

The normal attendance rules apply for attending a school sponsored event. In order to attend the game, students must be in school for the entire day Monday. There will be no dismissals prior to 1 PM for students going to the game.

Anyone who is absent or is sent home from school may not attend the game, unless he or she receives specific permission from the administration.

Go Bishops!
Even though all of our students have not known a year when we did not go to the Boston Garden, it remains a tremendous accomplishment and honor for our girls to play on this fabled court. Let's all head into the city and cheer our Bishops to victory!
