AWHS President Dennis M. Duggan., Jr. Esq. ’70 and Bishops’ Athletic Director Gordie McClay accompanied Seniors Jonathan Hamilton (East Bridgewater) and Jaclyn Shuttleworth (Quincy) to the Catholic Central League’s Annual Scholar-Athlete Banquet.
Archbishop Williams is one of 14 schools in the CCL. Each school had two students recognized for their excellence in the classroom, on the playing field and in the community. Jonathan, who will be attending Harvard University in the fall, topped the group with a cumulative 5.028 GPA while excelling in soccer, hockey and track.
Jaclyn will be attending Stonehill College. She had the third best GPA, at 4.6, and was recognized for her stellar performance in cross-country, winter and spring track.
Both student-athletes were also Peer Ministers at AWHS and far exceeded the School’s requirement for community service.
The Students’ proud parents, Peter and Diane Hamilton, and Scott and Donna Shuttleworth accompanied Jonathan and Jaclyn. Jaclyn’s younger sister AWHS sophomore Sydney, attended as well. She may prove to be a strong candidate to follow in her sister’s footsteps.
Congratulations to Jonathan and Jaclyn for having their many outstanding achievements so recognized. They epitomize the scholar-athlete and citizen Archbishop Williams strives to inspire, nurture and produce. Many thanks to the C.C.L. for taking the time to highlight and honor such well-rounded role models.
