Physical Education Department
In keeping with the philosophy of Archbishop Williams High School, the main goal of the Physical Education Department is to contribute to the development of a well-rounded individual by stressing overall physical fitness as well as providing an understanding of the physical, mental and social aspects of a lifetime of quality sports and recreation.
Objectives
- To develop a basic competency of rules, regulations and general knowledge of a variety of sports and games.
- To provide an opportunity for students to practice and learn basic motor skills needed for successful participation in a variety of sports and games.
- To test students in physical fitness areas that includes flexibility, cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and endurance.
- To help all students develop some sense of teamwork, honesty and integrity, as promoted in the qualities of good sportsmanship, by participation in the various activities.
