English Department

The English Department is designed to provide students the opportunity for critical expression through writing, presentations, and shared insight through the exploration of literature and nonfiction. Inherent in all English courses are opportunities for students to develop their ability to think critically, speak confidently and effectively, and to write clearly and adeptly. 

Objectives

• To foster an appreciation of literature as a means of understanding self and humanity. 
• To promote the development of a lucid, fluid writing style. 
• To provide students with the opportunity to develop public speaking competence. 
• To explore the importance and impact of non-fiction.
