Each family, parent or guardian, is required to contribute twenty (20) hours per year to activities and events that are sponsored by the Archbishop Williams Parents Support Board.
Students who volunteer are eligible for student service hours and should check with the Campus Ministry for details. The hours worked by students do not count towards parent hours.
Volunteer hours must be served from June 1 through May 31 of the current academic year. We realize that the school year is a very busy time for families so The Parent Support Board has summer opportunities for families to complete their hours as well.
There is a two hundred and fifty dollar ($ 250.00) fee per family that must be paid prior to the school year. This fee is refundable when a student leaves AWHS provided the family has fulfilled its twenty (20) hour obligation each year the family has a student attending AWHS. This fee will be held in an escrow account and all interest accrued shall benefit AWHS.
If you do not complete the twenty (20) hours in a given academic year, your two hundred and fifty dollar ($250.00) fee will be retained by AWHS in lieu of your volunteer service hours and you must pay an additional two hundred fifty dollar ($250.00) fee at the beginning of the next academic year. There is no partial credit.
In lieu of service hours, you may opt to contribute your two hundred and fifty dollar ($250.00) fee to AWHS at the beginning of each academic year. Please indicate your wishes to contribute on the enclosed form with payment. All donations will be acknowledged in writing by the school. Your fee must be paid by August 15, 2012.
Should you choose to donate your fee or not fulfill your required twenty (20) hours you will be required to pay an additional two hundred and fifty dollar ($250.00) fee the following school year. Those who volunteer twenty (20) hours or more will have their two hundred and fifty dollar ($250.00) fee rolled over to the following year or refunded when your student graduates. Hours are not transferable and may not be rolled over from year to year
In the event that a student withdraws or is dismissed from the AWHS within the school year, your fee will be refunded as follows:
By November 1st $ 250.00 refund
By January 1st $ 125.00 refund
After January 1st no refund
Welcome back to all our Administrations, Teachers, Students, and Parents:
I have had the pleasure to be involved with our three children (Colleen ’09, Patrick ’11, and Hugh ’14) at AWHS since 2005. Volunteering my time at AWHS has given me the ability to stay actively involved in their lives at a time when they are beginning to go their own way.
I have also had the pleasure of meeting the best of friends at AWHS, while volunteering or attending our children’s extracurricular activities. To me, the required volunteer hours are a great way to be with my children and be with the best of friends throughout AWHS.
Please do not look at these hours as a chore or task. Please look at these hours as time well spent time with your family and new found friends. Our children are only a short time away from being away on their own and we will not have the ability to ask them how school was face to face.
