BRAINTREE, MA, ISSUED MAY 3, 2010...AWHS recently hosted the Regional Six Science Fair in the school's gymnasium.

Nine area schools participated during the April 29^th science fair, with more than 60 students presenting their science projects.  Participating schools were: Holy Family School, Rockland; Sacred Heart School, Weymouth; St. Agatha School, Milton; St. Ann School, Quincy; St. Francis of Assisi, Braintree; St. Jerome School, Weymouth; St. Mary of the Hills, Milton; St. Mary School. West Quincy; and St. Paul School, Hingham.

Winners of the Regional Six Science Fair Science were as follows:

Grade 6
1^st Place -Makayla Coleman, St. Mary of the Hills, Milton

2^nd Place -Colm Linsky, St. Mary of the Hills, Milton

3^rd Place -Molly Cahill, Holy Family, Rockland

Grade7
1^st Place - Aiden Hogan, St. Paul, Hingham
2^nd Place - Imani George, St, Mary of the Hills, Milton
3^rd Place - Jackie Montminy, St. Agatha, Milton

Grade 8
1^st Place - Ryan Wallace, Saint Francis of Assisi, Braintree
2^nd Place - Kelsey Gallagher, St. Jerome, Weymouth

3^rd Place - Rachel Anderson, St.Agatha, Milton

"Archbishop Williams High School was delighted to host the Area Six Regional Science Fair and welcome its 69 contestants, their teachers and families," said Mary Lou Sadowski, Principal of AWHS.  "As the need for S.T.E.M. professionals increases, educators must begin preparing students with challenging inquiry-based coursework in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.  Our Area Six contestants have demonstrated well their high interest and proficiency in Science, and we congratulate them."
