Archbishop Williams High School participates in The Campus Kitchens Project at UMass Boston
Junior Regina Valdez accepted as intern with service project
BRAINTREE, MA, ISSUED APRIL 26, 2010... Archbishop Williams High School, a leading Catholic co-educational college preparatory high school located in Braintree, announces its participation with The Campus Kitchens Project at the University of Massachusetts Boston.
The Campus Kitchens Project is an emerging leader in community service for students and resourceful anti-hunger programs for communities around the country. The program encourages thousands of students each year to recycle food from their cafeterias, turn these donations into nourishing meals, and deliver those meals to those who need it most. The program opens on-campus kitchen space to teach culinary skills to unemployed men and women, who in turn teach students about poverty and stereotypes.
The opening of the first Campus Kitchen in Massachusetts was held on April 26th in the Campus Center at UMass-Boston. The kitchen was made possible through a partnership with UMass-Boston and the Walmart Foundation.
Regina Valdez of Quincy, a junior at Archbishop Williams High School has been accepted as an intern with the Campus Kitchens Project at UMass-Boston AWHS.
"What more valuable service can our students provide than to give of themselves to those in need and who better to provide that service with than The University of Massachusetts," said Dr. Carmen Mariano, President of AWHS. "I could not be more proud of this partnership or of this program."
