Football Cheer Team heading to National Competition for first time in School's 60 year history!

 

 

BRAINTREE, MA, ISSUED FEBRUARY 18, 2010…Archbishop Williams High School, a leading Catholic co-educational college preparatory high school located in Braintree, announces that for the first time ever, its Football Cheerleading Team recently won the South Regional Division 4 Competition.

In addition to placing first in the Regional Championship, the cheerleading team also recently won the Catholic Central League Competition for the first time in school history.

The honors continued when the team placed 3rd in the Division 4 State Competition, the team’s “best finish in the program’s history,”according to Joseph Francis, Athletic Director for Archbishop Williams High School.

The Cheer Team will now be heading to the Nationals for the first time in the school's 60 year history. The U.S. Spirit Open will be held at Universal Studios in Orlando, FL in late March. Kathie Lewis, the Cheer Coach comments "She is so excited for the girls to have this opportunity and is looking forward to representing AWHS at the Open."

 “We applaud all the fine athletes who comprise the football cheerleading team; they have given the entire school much to cheer about!” said Dr.Carmen Mariano, President of AWHS.

The Cheer Team will be holding a fundraising event on March 5 details below:
