Gordon McClay of Plymouth named Assistant Athletic Director
BRAINTREE, MA, ISSUED- September 30, 2011... Dr Carmen Mariano, President of Archbishop Williams High School, a leading Catholic co-educational college preparatory high school located in Braintree, proudly announces the appointment of Gordon McClay of Plymouth to Assistant Athletic Director.
McClay has been on the coaching staff at Archbishop Williams since 2007 as Head Coach of the Girls Varsity Lacrosse and presently also the Girls Varsity Soccer. McClay lead the Southeastern Coastal Bay State Girls’ Lacrosse team since 2009 where the team earned a Bronze, Silver and most recently a Gold medal in the summer games.
Currently a BMCS/E-8 District Boat Manager, McClay has served his country in the United States Coast Guard for 28 years.
He is the past president of the Plymouth Youth Hockey Association where he has served on its board and has been an instructional hockey coach for over 11 years. McClay came to AWHS after serving as the Assistant Coach for the North Plymouth High School Varsity and JV Hockey teams.
McClay is also the founder of the Archbishop Williams Captains Council. A nationwide program, McClay tailored the curriculum for AWHS student athletes. The five week program offers a venue for captains of all teams to learn essential skills to create strong student leaders both on and off the field. He currently has put over thirty student athletes through the program.
