McClay awarded 2014-2015 Ted Damko Award for Athletic Administrative Excellence; 2013-2014 MIAA AD of the Year
The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) announced that that Gordie McClay, Athletic Director at Archbishop Williams High School, has been awarded the 2014-2015 Ted
In addition, last year, McClay was awarded the 2013-2014 MIAA “Athletic Director of the Year” as the top AD in the district. McClay received this award, which recognizes athletic administrators from across the state that have excelled in their profession.
McClay is proud to receive these accolades but is quick to credit the entire athletic department, “Receiving these awards in my first three years as an athletic director is quite an honor, I am certainly proud to be recognized, but much of the credit goes to everyone in our department and administration. I want to specifically thank our coaches, as they are the ones that make everything work on a day-to-day basis, assuring that our athletic program is successful.”
McClay was hired as Bishops Athletic Director in 2012 and since then has helped build and drive a successful athletics program which has 24 varsity sports involving over 375 students athletes from grades 7-12. In addition to his duties as an athletic director, McClay coaches the Girls Soccer team in the Fall and Girls Lacrosse team in the Spring.
