At an awards ceremony held at St. Thomas More Church in Braintree, Archbishop Williams Students were recognized with induction into Honor Societies in the areas of French, Spanish and Social Studies. Students were selected because of their academic achievements and their commitment to scholarship, character, service and leadership.
Societe Honoraire de Francais honored ten AWHS students who maintained excellent grades in at least three semesters of French language classes. The inductees were: Jean-Didier Bertola, Olivia Boncaldo, Sofia Boncaldo, Jay Chaudhary, Jonathan Hamilton, Megan Norton, Victoria Putnam, Anxin Shen, Jennifer Smeloff and Zhao Zhang. The new inductees were joined by previously inducted members Alana Gilmer, Uyen Le, Shiyu Mao, Ryan McMahon, Jessica Rega and Jen Troderman.
Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica honored sixteen AWHS students who each have taken a minimum of three semesters of Spanish and maintained an honor grade in accordance with the AHWS Chapter’s mission of high academic achievement. The inductees were; Jonathan Allen, Ashley Conti, Emma Crocker, Juliette Donahue, Emily Fleming, Christina Forde, Taylor Jackson, Michael Matthews, Jenna Naughton, Emily Perriello, Justin Pinto, Brianna Roy, Jaclyn Shuttleworth, Yasmine Sudhu, Kaylee Tobin and Katryna Veasey. The new inductees were joined by previously inducted members Kiera Dwyer, Sarah Golden and Megan Laurie.
ROH KAPPA National Social Studies Honor Society honored eleven AWHS students who have demonstrated an ability to work with others, conduct research and inquiry in the field of social studies and who have shown qualities of industry, initiative, and reliability through their academic excellence in social studies. The Inductees to the AWHS chapter were; Claire Archdeacon, Lucas Flint, Jason Lamie, Zhishan Li, Rachel McManus, Emily Perriello, Mia Roles, Brianna Roy, Erin Snow, Mikayla Sullivan, Katelyn Vinay. The new inductees were joined by previously inducted members Kelly Gemmill, Laurel Gozzo, Kelsey Marino, Glenn Martinez and Patrick Wall.
At each Honor Society ceremony, each inductee lit a candle signifying their acceptance into the Society and then received an award from AWHS Principal Dr. Michael Volonnino in recognition of their achievements. A reception with refreshments followed for the inductees, members, faculty and guests, hosted by faculty from the Foreign Language and Social Studies Departments.
