The National Spanish Examinations are administered each year in grades 6 through 12, and are sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. Year in and year out, Archbishop Williams High School consistently has students achieving high marks on this very challenging Spanish exam. Spanish teachers, Beverly Ekstrom, Libby Sands, Joyce Lewis, Joanne Adams and Mary Lou Sadowski are congratulated, as these awards are a reflection of the quality instruction and focused preparation that they offer their students.

The National French Contest/Le Grand Concours is an annual competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French. AWHS Students enrolled in any of Diane Jackson’s French Classes were eligible to take the test.   This written test enables students from across the country to and compete against other students with similar educational backgrounds for National prizes of Excellence. This year 45 AWHS French Students participated in the contest of those, 30 students were recognized in the 50th percentile or above.  Two National Laureates were selected; One Gold and One Bronze Medalist.

“I am so impressed by the ability of our students, inspired by great teachers, to achieve at such a high level relative to their peers across the country. Our world is shrinking by the day and the ability to communicate across cultures continues to be a key to success” said, AWHS Principal Dennis M. Duggan, Jr., Esq. ’70
