Earlier this month, Junior Gregory Doyle was selected as one of five Archdiocesan students, and the only high school student, to personally interview Cardinal Sean O’Malley. The interview was covered by CatholicTV and by Boston Channel 4 WBZ as a part of Paula Ebben’s “Eye on Education” series. It was quite an honor for Gregory to be chosen, and a rare opportunity as well inasmuch as as Cardinal Sean’s position and schedule make him a rare interview.
Gregory represented AWHS extremely well, asking the Cardinal about the importance of creating an inclusive and welcoming Church for all. An excited Doyle commented after the interview, “Not every school day do you get the chance to meet and interview a Cardinal, it was really amazing to meet someone who is so important and ask questions about the Church. I will take this day with me as one of the most meaningful and special events so far in my life.” Gregory’s interview was made possible by Superintendent Kathy Mears and the Catholic Schools Office. AWHS would like to thank Superintendent Mears, the Catholic Schools Office and, most importantly, His Eminence Cardinal Sean for giving of his time and providing this valuable experience to Gregory and the other Archdiocesan students. It was a day neither Gregory nor AWHS will soon forget. To view the full interview, click here.
