45 students inducted into language and social studies honor societies

Forty five Archbishop Williams High School students were recently inducted into either the French Honor Society, the Spanish Honor Society, or the Social Studies Honor Society during a joint ceremony at St. Thomas More Church, Braintree. Six of the students were inducted into more than one society.

The ceremony began with a recitation of the Hail Mary prayer by current members Madison Doran (Weymouth) and Gregory Doyle (Weymouth). The event included a traditional candle-lighting ceremony with the passing of a lighted candle from member to member. Principal Dr. Michael Volonnino and the honor society moderators - Ms. Diane Jackson for French, Ms. Beverly Ekstrom for Spanish, and Ms. Jordan Grubb for Social Studies -  praised the inductees in their remarks and presented them with their certificates. With the recitation of the Lord’s Prayer, Olivia Condon (Plymouth) and Michael Dallaire (East Bridgewater) closed the ceremony.  

For the language societies, all inductees were required to have a minimum 90% average in the subject area, and minimum 80% average overall for all subjects. For social studies, inductees were required to have a GPA of 3.7 in the subject area and a 3.7 average overall for all subjects.

Inductees for the French Honor Society, the Societe Honoraire de Francais, sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French, were: Caroline Bloomer (Quincy), Mark Bloomer (Hanover), AnnaNicole Romaine (Kingston), Darnelle Stinfort (Quincy), Chelsea Taxter (Readville). The inductees were introduced by current honor society members Jean-Didier Bertola (Scituate), Olivia Boncaldo (Braintree) and Sofia Boncaldo (Braintree).
