Statement from Archbishop Williams High School 4/10/16

Sunday, April 10, 2016

As a Catholic community of faith, we are deeply saddened by the serious automobile accident that occurred last night involving four of our students.  We ask for prayers for the families of the students involved and for the entire Archbishop Williams community.

As communicated to our parents, students, faculty and staff earlier today, last night four Archbishop Williams High School sophomores were involved in a single car accident in Weymouth, MA.  One of the students succumbed to her injuries. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

We have come together to support our students as they begin the process of grieving the loss of a classmate and friend.  This morning, administration and faculty met to develop a plan to help the entire community cope and we appreciate the outpouring of support from our local and Catholic communities.  We extend our deepest sympathy to all the families affected by this event.

Archbishop Williams High School has taken the following actions:

-Our doors have been and will remain open until 5 p.m. today, Sunday, April 10th,  for anyone needing support.  Grief counselors are available and will remain available as needed throughout the week.

-As a community of faith, a school wide prayer service will be held on Monday, April 11th at 1:30 p.m. in the AWHS auditorium.

-All Monday after school activities and athletic events are cancelled.

May the peace of the risen Christ be with our school community, especially the families of the students involved.
