PURPOSE OF SERVICE:

In keeping with the mission of the school, Christian service provides a way for students to "put their faith into action." Students must complete a TOTAL of 70 hours of community service by the end of the THIRD TERM of their senior year. Students who transfer to the school mid-year, or in their sophomore or junior years, should see the Campus Ministry Department to work out the adjusted service hours that are required.

The AWHS CAMPUS MINISTRY defines service as “the generous giving of one’s time for the benefit of or on behalf of another person without compensation, in imitation of the example Christ set for us.” In other words, students should not be paid for service; students cannot claim service hours for responsibilities done at home such as babysitting, yard work, doing homework, or helping family members.

GRADE 9 must complete 15 service hours by Memorial Day
GRADE 10 must complete 20 service hours by Memorial Day
GRADE 11 must complete 20 service hours by Memorial Day
GRADE 12 must complete 15 service hours by the end of the THIRD TERM
